“Women’s History is Women’s Right. It is an essential and indispensable heritage from which we can draw pride, comfort, courage, and long-range vision.” -Dr. Gerda Lerner

In 1980 U.S. President Carter declared March 2-8 to be National Women’s History Week to expand on the United Nation’s establishment of March 8th as International Women’s Day. Seven years later, the week was expanded into Women’s History Month.

In recognition of the month, Sampsonia Way presents a slideshow of some of the incredible and influential women who have been interviewed by the magazine in the past year, from journalists like Lucía Escobar of Guatemala to poets like TJ Dema of Botswana.
