She holds a B.S. degree from the National Art School, E.N.A., Havana (2003).
She has published the short story collection Zona de Exorcismo (Ácana, 2006).
Her texts have appeared in the Cuban literary magazines Antenas and El Caimán Barbudo.
She resides in Camagüey, Cuba.
Jhortensia Espineta Osuna takes refuge in one of the upper floors of one of the few tall buildings of Camagüey. From there, with explosive silence, like a gladiator illuminated by her own letters, she has been writing a novel for years. Despite her profession as a publicist, she is suspicious of mass media when it comes to reveal the secrets of her own narrative. Her only published book caused a cataclysm in the profuse but poorly polemical young literary scene in Cuba. No interviews, almost no public pictures. Now we can do nothing but wait for her or perhaps for Gladia, the protagonist of her eternal novel.
