The Writer’s Block is an ongoing video series of interviews with visiting writers at City of Asylum/Pittsburgh. In these Q&A’s, conducted on Sampsonia Way, writers sit down with us to discuss literature, their craft, and career. View all previous interviews here.
On September 7 TJ Dema sat down with Sampsonia Way to discuss her writing process, her collaboration experiences, and where poetry fits in culturally in Botswana. Stay tuned for the full interview with Dema, which will be published later this week.
TJ Dema, a Botswana-based poet, was one of five readers at this year’s Jazz Poetry Concert, hosted by City of Asylum/Pittsburgh. Dema is currently a resident at the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program. Previously she was the chairperson of The Writers Association of Botswana and co-founded the Exoduslivepoetry! collective.
