On September 7 TJ Dema sat down with Sampsonia Way to discuss her writing process, her collaboration experiences, and where poetry fits in culturally in Botswana. Stay tuned for the full interview with Dema, which will be published later this week.
TJ Dema, a Botswana-based poet, was one of five readers at this year’s Jazz Poetry Concert, hosted by City of Asylum/Pittsburgh. Dema is currently a resident at the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program. Previously she was the chairperson of The Writers Association of Botswana and co-founded the Exoduslivepoetry! collective. Dema’s poetic style is tagged as performance poetry, and she has released one CD, Dreaming is a Gift for Me, which features twelve poets from Botswana.
