Cave Canem Reading 2010
On June 23, City of Asylum/Pittsburgh will partner with Cave Canem to host a reading with Toi Derricotte, Cornelius Eady, Natasha Trethewey and Amiri Baraka. The event will take place on the 1400 block of Monterey Street at 7:30 PM.

CAVE CANEM 15th ANNIVERSARY
In 1996, poets Toi Derricotte and Cornelius Eady founded Cave Canem as a retreat for black poets. Since then, the organization has grown in size and reputation. It is now a renowned and influential institution with an annual writing retreat at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, two book prizes with well-known presses, and a national reading series.
Last year Toi Derricotte talked with Sampsonia Way about the history of Cave Canem and how it supports free expression for African-American writers. Read the interview.
