In this video, Tommy Wieringa reads an excerpt from his 2005 novel Joe Speedboat, in which Joe, a kinetic young visionary, and Frankie Hermans, who is paralyzed and mute, shake awake a sleepy rural town.

Wieringa visited Sampsonia Way on April 27 of 2010 to give a reading with Christos Tsiolkas and Sofi Oksanen. The event was sponsored by City of Asylum/Pittsburgh in partnership with PEN/America.

While he was here, Wieringa sat down for a conversation with Sampsonia Way editor Silvia Duarte.
