Dawn Lundy Martin’s poetry has a hypnotic effect, giving the reader glimpses into another reality, which feels at once foreign and familiar. The author of three award winning books of poetry; and co-director of the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics at the University of Pittsburgh, Martin was faculty for the 2017 Cave Canem Writer’s Retreat, which culminated in a reading at City of Asylum, Pittsburgh. She read from her newest collection, Good Stock, Strange Blood (Coffee House,2017).
