Ashraf Atraqchi is an artist, writer, and curator from Mosul, Iraq. His work—which focuses on art, cultural production, and freedom of expression in the Middle East— has been published in Iraqiyoon newspaper, al-Tarbiya magazine, and Thakirat Madina magazine. In Iraq, Atraqchi endured severe pressure, threats, and an attempt on his life for his controversial writing and artwork. He finally fled in 2014 when IS occupied his hometown. He is now an ICORN artist-in-residence of Stockholm City of Refuge.
