For people who are interested in the local literary scene and want to know more about when and where to go, Sampsonia Way’s literary calendar is a comprehensive source for information on events of all types and genres happening around town.

On Wednesday, Penguin Bookshop in Sewickley hosts its story-time/craft workshop “Writing and Art with Tess.” Participants (ages 5 and up) can write a story, draw a story, tell a story or listen to stories. The free event begins at 10 a.m.

And Friday, June 10, Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater (in the Cultural District) performs Amy and David Sedaris’s The Book of Liz—a hilarious “Amish picaresque” chronicling one woman’s journey from “Perspiration to Inspiration.” Tickets are $15 in advance, and the premiere performance begins at 8 p.m.

These are only a few events in next week’s packed literary agenda. To check out more literary events around town, look at our detailed calendar. Read more about the new calendar.
