Joy Katz is an American poet, artist and essayist. Her 2013 full-length collection, All You Do is Perceive was a finalist for the National Poetry Series and a Stahlecker Selection at Four Way Books. She is also the author of The Garden Room, Fabulae, and a chapbook, Which From That Time (Argos 2013). With Kevin Prufer, she co-edited the acclaimed anthology Dark Horses: Poets on Overlooked Poems.
Joy Katz performed with Israel Centeno during City of Asylum’s Jazz Poetry month on September 16, 2016. Prior to the performance, Sampsonia Way interviewed her about her challenges in portraying voices from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds and the moment she knew that she was a poet.
